Showtime Boxing returns to PPV on Saturday night as one of the sport’s brightest stars returns to the ring. Gervonta “Tank” Davis steps up to 140 pounds to challenge a title in a third weight class when he faces Mario Barrios for the WBA junior “regular” welterweight title. The fight dominates a four-fight main card game that will emanate from State Farm Arena in Atlanta.
Davis, the power punching machine in the lower weight classes, just picked up a playoff performance of the year in 2020 when he thundered out Leo Santa Cruz. Davis has eliminated all of his 24 opponents except one.
Barrios, meanwhile, won the title he will bring to the ring on Saturday night with a decisive victory over Batyr Akhmedov in September 2019. Barrios has a lot of power in his own right with 17 TKOs in 26 pro fights. It will be the biggest step in the class of his career, however.

Elsewhere on this loaded PPV map, Erickson Lubin and Jeison Rosario are set to face off in the 154-pound division as the two guys look to get back into the title race. Rosario stunned many when he stopped Julian Williams in January 2020 to win a pair of recognized junior middleweight titles. However, he did not hold them for very long, since Jermell Charlo arrested him last September. Lubin, meanwhile, rebounded from his own TKO loss to Charlo in 2017 with five straight wins. Now both men believe a victory on Saturday brings them one step closer to the title race and possibly Charlo’s winner against Brian Castano in July.
