PEACE outlasts RED Canids in 5-game attrition battle at 2021 Worlds to secure spot in final play-in series against Cloud9

After a five-game battle against CBLOL’s RED Canids today, LCO’s PEACE have won the chance to play in yet another best-of-five series against Cloud9 tomorrow to decide who will compete in the 2021 main event. League of Legends World Championship.

Throughout the five games, PEACE and RED Canids have shown the will to fight in any situation. They weren’t afraid to commit teleports, summoner spells, and ultimates for random skirmishes. But at many times, both teams became overzealous with their aggression. In fact, Game 2 of the series was the bloodiest game in the Worlds so far with a total wins per minute of 1.51, according to MDR Esports statistics.

There were clear carries on both sides. RED’s young AD, TitaN, played superstars on champions like Ezreal and Aphelios, while PEACE’s duo Tally and Babip were set to work their way into the next round of the tournament.

Almost every game seemed to be off balance for a team, with each roster trying to find an early lead to snowball in the middle of the game. Four of the five matches lasted less than 27 minutes because whenever one of the two teams could find a significant advantage, the other team could not land a kickback to stabilize.

In the final game of the series, a critical error in the opening moments of Game 5 sealed the fate of the Canids at the Worlds when several RED members died after pushing their opponents too much down the lane. Another 12 minutes later, the Brazilian hopefuls attempted an ultimate engagement near the dragon pit, but encountered a perfect rotation of the OCE representatives. They were beaten as a result and the game was pretty much over from that point on.

It’s a disappointing end for RED as they were only one game away from moving on to the next round. PEACE, on the other hand, will have to address the issues that have arisen during this series. Throughout the match, they gave up tempo, passed the stage, and made unforced errors that kept RED in the game. They need to clean up their game deeply if they are to defeat C9 in tomorrow’s main event decider.
